General Laws for Keeping Torah
SUMMARY OF KEEPING TORAH LAWS
PUT THE TORAH IN YOUR MIND; as it is written, “they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes” – (Deuteronomy 6:8)
LET THE TORAH SHOW IN YOUR WORKS; as it is written, “thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand”- (Deuteronomy 6:8)
TALK ABOUT THE TORAH ALL THE TIME; as it is written, “talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, & when thou walkest by the way, & when thou liest down, & when thou risest up “ – (Deuteronomy 6:7)
TEACH THE TORAH TO YOUR CHILDREN; as it is written, “thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children” – (Deuteronomy 6:7)
LET THE TORAH BE THE FOUNDATION & GUARD OF YOUR HOUSE; as it is written, “write them upon the posts of thy house, & on thy gates.” (Deuteronomy 6:9)
WEAR FRINGES & BLUE BORDERS ON YOUR GARMENTS; as it is written, “Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue” (Numbers 15:38-40)
GATHER FOR READING OF THE LAW EVERY 7TH YEAR; as it is written, “thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.” (Deuteronomy 31:10-13)
