7 Shocking Ways Thanksgiving goes against Scriptures

thanksgiving dinner

thanksgiving dinner1 – The dinner is cursed

Proverbs 15:17

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

Proverbs 17:1
Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.

Ecclesiastes 4:6
Better is an handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit.

2 Mourning is Better than Feasting

The tradition of Thanksgiving has a dark history that is often overlooked. While it is a time for families and loved ones to come together and give thanks, it is important to acknowledge the atrocities that were committed against Native Americans during this holiday.

The reality is that the Pilgrims, who are celebrated for being the founders of this holiday, had a deep hatred for the Native Americans. They saw them as savages and were willing to use violence to assert their dominance. This is something that is often left out of the narrative of Thanksgiving.

While the Pilgrims and their descendants may have enjoyed a feast on Thanksgiving day, for Native Americans, this day is a National Day of Mourning. It is a time to remember the suffering and pain that their people endured at the hands of the Pilgrims and the subsequent colonization of their lands.

Therefore, it is important to recognize that Thanksgiving is not a celebration that is shared by all. It is a time to reflect on the complicated history of this holiday and to work towards a future where we can celebrate together in a truly inclusive and respectful way.

3 – It is time to apologize; not to be thankful & unapologetic

Ecclesiastes 3:

1To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

2A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

3A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

4A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

5A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

6A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

7A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

8A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Thanksgiving day is really a day that should be for mourned and remembering and a day for apologies from the ancestors & people of the Pilgrims who have benefited from their Pilgrimage. It should be Forgiveness Day not a day of Thankfulness – This is what my daughter Sagalah stated, for the record & I agree, but a day where Forgiveness is Sought, not neccessarily given. I say that because they need to give reprerations for what they did. That is truly seeking forgivness.

It should be a day for which the white man seeks forgiveness, but instead he gloats and becomes a glutton and hides the truth of his Helladay.

The Celebration of Thanksgiving

While Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated by many in the United States, it is not a time to celebrate for everyone. This is because the origins of Thanksgiving are deeply rooted in a history of colonization, violence, and displacement of Native American populations.

The traditional story of Thanksgiving is one that paints a romanticized version of Native American and Pilgrim relations, where they come together in harmony to share a feast. However, this story ignores the reality of the violence and oppression that were inflicted upon Native Americans by white colonizers.

The Pilgrims were settlers who came to the Americas to stake their claim on land that was already inhabited by various Native American tribes. As they settled, they brought with them diseases that devastated Native American populations. They also used violence and force to take over Native American lands, which led to displacement, death, and destruction of communities.

For many Native Americans, Thanksgiving is a reminder of the ongoing trauma and pain that they have experienced as a result of colonization. It is a time to mourn the loss of their ancestral lands and culture, as well as to acknowledge the ongoing systemic issues that they continue to face.

In short, while Thanksgiving may be a time of celebration for some, it is important to recognize and respect the fact that it may not be a time of celebration for many others, particularly Native Americans who continue to experience the effects of colonization today.

4 – You going to the wrong house

Go to the house of Mourning and side with those who were wronged and continue to be wronged. Don’t side with the devil’s table because his table is full of meat and tasty treats.

Ecclesiastes 7:2-4

2It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

3Sorrow is better than laughter: for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made better.

4The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

5 – Don’t make covenants with foreigners

The United States of America made 500 Covenants with the Natives

How many covenants did they actually keep? That number can be counted using one hand. Then you would need to ask said Native if it was truly kept

6 – It is a Celebration of Hell

Thanksgiving is an Evil Helladay

The quote “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” is a powerful reminder of the importance of recognizing the truth, even when it is difficult to do so. In the case of Thanksgiving, it is a holiday that has been tainted by a history of colonization, violence and displacement of Native American populations. It is not a Holy day or a Holiday, it is a Helladay.

Despite the enormous contributions that Native Americans made to the survival of early European settlers, they were disrespected, taken advantage of and considered as inferior by some of these settlers. The celebration of Thanksgiving, which tells the story of a friendly and peaceful feast between these two groups, is a distorted version of history that overlooks the brutal realities of the past.

Rather than a day of thanksgiving, Thanksgiving should be a day of truth and reflection, in which we acknowledge the suffering and injustices inflicted upon Native Americans by the hands of our ancestors. We should apologize for these wrongdoings and work towards reparations to make amends.

Instead, we have turned this holiday into a day of excess, where people feast on turkey without giving a second thought to the significance of the holiday. Worse still, Thanksgiving is not the only holiday that celebrates the destructive history of colonization- Columbus Day is another example of a holiday that should be re-examined in its meaning. Tell the truth about Columbus on the day he is celebrated. He was kill-hungry murder.

In essence, it is crucial that we recognize the true history of Thanksgiving, and take steps towards healing and reconciliation with Native American peoples.

Shame on you United States of America!

7 – Thanksgiving promotes gluttony

There is an increase in the number of heart attacks during Thanksgiving. This is because Thanksgiving is traditionally associated with a high intake of unhealthy, fat-rich foods. People who are already at risk of heart disease may experience a heart attack as a result of overindulging in these foods.

The risk of a heart attack can increase fourfold after eating a hearty meal, just like those that most will enjoy this Thanksgiving. That’s especially true for those at a higher risk of heart attacks to begin with or those with heart disease, according to a study published in 2000 in Science Daily.
